Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Lincoln MKX

Today on our 2016 Lincoln MKX, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Thule T2 Pro XTB platform style, two bike rack. That's part number TH9034XT. I've already got it loaded up, just to give you a good idea of what it looks like, and how it's going to hold our two bikes. It actually holds our bikes with zero frame contact. That's a really nice feature, especially if you're concerned about carrying a carbon fiber bike. Let me show you one of it's best features, really quick, excuse me. It has the ability to tilt away with bikes loaded, so we can gain access to our rear hatch.



Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Lincoln MKX TH9031XT

Today, on our 2016 Lincoln MKX, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Thule Vertex Swinging Four Bike Rack. That's part number TH9031XT. So I've already got it loaded up on the Lincoln, just to give you a good idea what it looks like and how it's going to hold our bikes. It is a hanging style bike rack, as you can see. Today, on our 2016 Lincoln MKX, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Yakima SwingDaddy four bike rack. That's part number Y02464. It's a hanging style bike rack. I've already got it loaded up just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's going to hold our four bikes. It actually holds our four bikes with three points of contact. We've got two zip strips for our top tube here, and then we've got one for our seat post tube.



Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Lincoln MKX

Today on our 2016 Lincoln MKX we're going to be doing a test fit on the Kuat Transfer platform-style 2-bike rack. That's part number TS02G. I've already got it loaded up just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's going to hold our two bikes. It actually holds our bikes with zero frame contact. We have the large wheel hook putting down pressure on our front wheel into our front wheel cradle here. Then for our rear wheel cradle, we've got a strap going over the wheel.



Hollywood Racks Trail-Rider Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Lincoln MKX

Today on our 2016 Lincoln MKX we're going to be doing a test fit on the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider Platform Style 2-Bike Rack, that's part number HR200. I've already got it loaded up just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's going to hold our two bikes. It actually secures our bikes with three points of contact. We have this padded frame hook here going over our top tube, putting down pressure on our bike and to our front and rear cradles. Then we've got a wheel strap, so not a bad way to carry your two bikes. Let's go ahead and take our bike off. I'll show you a few neat ideas that this bike has. It's a little bit different whereas when we raise up our frame hook, we can actually pull ut the pin here, tilt the center mast away from us, which makes it way easier to remove that first bike.

Today, on our 2016 Lincoln MKX, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Hollywood Racks, SportRider 2, platform style 2 bike rack. That's part number HR1000. Today on our 2016 Lincoln MKX, we're going to be doing a test fit in the Kuat NV 2.0 Platform-Style Two-Bike Rack. That's part number NV22G. I've already got it loaded up just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's going to hold our two bikes. It actually holds our two bikes with zero frame contact. That's a really nice feature, especially if you're carrying like a carbon fiber bike. One of its best features is it has the ability to tilt away with bikes loaded so we can gain access to our rear hatch. The way that's done, we've got a lever here in the center. We're going to pull that towards us, tilt it outward until it rests, and then as you can see, we're going to have more than enough room to open that rear hatch to remove any cargo, gear, or groceries, anything we might have with us on our trip. Now this bike rack you might notice, it's a little bit nicer than most.

I've already got it loaded up on the Lincoln just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's going to hold our four bikes. It actually holds our four bikes with no frame contact, so that's a really nice feature if you have a carbon fiber bike, but one of its best features is it has the ability to tilt away from our Lincoln with all four bikes loaded, so we can gain access to our rear hatch, and that can be done with our easy-to-use handle here at the back, so we're just going to squeeze it, and then drop it down. That's nice that the handle's at the back. Saves us the trouble from having to tilt it down here at the front. As you can see we can open up our rear hatch. We've got plenty of room between our rear hatch and our handle bars.



Thule Vertex 4 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2010 Lincoln MKX

Today on our 2010 Lincoln MKX, well be test fitting the Thule Vertex 4 Bike Carrier, part number TH9029.Quick note on this bike rack: you can use it with 1 -inch or 2-inch hitches, class 1 through class 3. Although, when using the class 1 hitch, you are limited to two bikes. With our vehicle equipped with the 2-inch hitch and our bike rack already pre-assembled, were ready to go ahead and fit it to the vehicle. Well start by inserting the bike rack shank into the hitch. Well line up the hitch pinhole. Well then tighten down our anti-rattle bolt.With our bike rack tight, it is now secured to the vehicle.



Thule Apex 4 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2010 Lincoln MKX

Today on our 2010 Lincoln MKX, well be test fitting the Thule Apex 4 Bike Carrier, part number TH9025. A quick note about this bike rack, it can be used with either 1 inch or 2-inch hitches, class 1 through class 3, although when using with the class 1 hitch you are limited to 2 bikes. With our MKX equipped with the 2-inch hitch and our bike rack already pre-assembled were ready to go ahead and fit it to the vehicle. As we slide it into the hitch, well open up the integrated locking hitch pin and well simply slide it into place. The hitch pin will spring into the hitch pinhole and then we simply tighten down the anti-rattle device. Another thing to remember when tightening down the anti-rattle device, go ahead and shake the bike rack around a little bit and this will help the device to work into the corner of the hitch opening itself.



Thule Roof Bike Racks Review - 2008 Lincoln MKX

Today on our 2008 Lincoln MKX, we're going to be test fitting the Thule Thru Ride Roof Bike Rack, part #TH535. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. First off, there's going to be no frame contact whatsoever to hook your bike up to your actual rack itself. Instead, it has two other points. We have a wheel strap, here in the back.



Yakima Holdup Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2007 Lincoln MKX

All right today, on this 2007 Lincoln MKX, we're going to do a test fit of part number Y02433 from Yakima; this is their Hold up 2 Bike Rack. Okay one thing you know about this bike rack is that it's designed for two-inch receiver hitches only. Now we'll start off our test fit by installing the bike rack into the hitch, then we'll go ahead and install the anti-rattle bolt then put the lock on the other side. All right, with the bike rack installed, we can go ahead and get some clearance measurements. At its closest point from the bicycle rack to the bumper, we're looking at three quarters of an inch. All right, now we'll go ahead and unfold the bike rack and get one more measurement.

All right today on this 2007 Lincoln MKX, we're going to do a test fit of part number TH9029 from Thule, the Vertex 4 Bicycle Rack. Now a few things to know about this bicycle rack that it will work inch and a quarter receiver hitches both class one and class two. However, with a class one receiver hitch, you're limited to carrying just two bicycles. This will also work with two-inch receiver hitch with the provided spacer. That's what we'll be working with today. Now we'll start off our test fit by installing the bike rack into the hitch, then we'll go ahead and tighten down the anti-rattle bolt.



Thule Parkway 2 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2007 Lincoln MKX

All right today, on this 2007 Lincoln MKX, we're going to do a test fit of part number TH958 from Thule, this is the Parkway 2 Bike Carrier. One thing to know about this bicycle rack, that it is designed for two-inch receiver hitches only. Now we'll start off our test fit by installing the bike rack into the hitch, then we'll go ahead and tighten down the anti-rattle bolt. With the bike rack installed, now we can go ahead and get some clearance measurements. From the security cable loop to the bumper, we're looking at a clearance of half an inch. Ground clearance is going to be 11 1/2 inches.



Thule Doubletrack Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2007 Lincoln MKX

All right today, on this 2007 Lincoln MKX, we're going to do a test fit of part number TH990XT from Thule, the Double Track Platform Style Bike Rack. A few key points to know about this bike rack, this will work with inch and a quarter receiver hitches, both class one and class two, and this will also work with two-inch receiver hitches with the included spacer. We'll be working with the two-inch receiver hitch today. Now we'll start off our test fit by installing the bike rack into the hitch, we'll tighten down the anti-rattle bolt, then install the lock on the other side. Few things to know about this bicycle carrier, that it will work inch and a quarter receiver hitches both class one and class two. However, when using it with a class one hitch, you're limited to just carrying just two bicycles. Now this will also work with a two-inch receiver hitch with the included spacer and that's what we're working with today. Now we'll start off our test fit by installing the bike rack into the hitch, we'll make sure that the integrated hitch pin is secured into the hitch pin hole and that--we'll go ahead and tighten down the anti-rattle device. Okay with the bike rack installed, we'll go ahead and get some clearance measurements.



SportRack EZ Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2007 Lincoln MKX

Alright, today on this 2007 Lincoln MKX were going to do a test fit of part #: A30901 from Sport Rack. Alright, a few key notes to know about this bike rack that it will work with inch and a quarter receiver hitches, both class 1 and class 2. Now this will also work with 2 inch receiver hitches with the included spacer and on this vehicle well be working with a 2 inch receiver hitch. Now well go ahead and start off by installing the bike rack into the hitch, well tighten down the anti-rattle bolt and install the safety clip on the other side. Alright, next well go ahead and unfold the bike rack and get some clearance measurements. From the bike rack to the bumper were looking at a distance of 7 inches.
